A Spooky October TBR

I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween.

I have nothing against the holiday. You dress up, hang out with friends, and have an all-around good, themed time.

But where I grew up, it wasn’t celebrated as widely as it is in the U.S., and I think that’s part of the reason for my lukewarm feelings towards it. Another reason could be that it’s the last significant barrier to Christmas (the superior holiday). Sure, for us American folks, Thanksgiving is still there but… come on. After Halloween, it’s basically Christmas.

Nevertheless, I wanted to get into the spirit this year! And what better way to do that than with some spooky, atmospheric reads? Grab your popcorn, people. We’ve got witches, vampires, and murder mysteries coming at you.

Contemporary-A-Thon Round 5 TBR | All the Romances

Contemporary books are very much my jam.

Or jelly, if you prefer. That’s why I was so sad when I couldn’t participate in the Contemporary-A-Thon earlier this year because that week was just too manic for me. But this time? Oh, this time, I am not missing out.

This round runs from Monday, September 23rd to Sunday, September 29th. I’ll be away from home for the first couple days of it, but I’m hoping it won’t slow me down too much. If you want more information on it, check out Chelsea’s video! She explains it super well.

Here are the prompts and what I’m hoping to read for each of them.

Most Anticipated Releases for the Rest of 2019

As the end of the year approaches, so do the end of year releases!

I feel like I was doing a decent job keeping up with new releases at the beginning of the year but now… I have certainly been overrun.

Nevertheless, time marches on and so must I! I figured I’d compile the books I’m hyped for in the final months of the year, not only for your entertainment, but also for myself to know just how much crying my wallet will be doing. (Hint: it’s a lot).

June 2019 Wrap-Up | Summer Vacay, Two Readathons, and More

My first full month of summer is over.

Which is incredibly unfortunate. But I’m trying not to think about it. Summer’s been so relaxing so far, and some of that definitely comes from the fact that I read so many great books. Let’s get into it!

Summerathon TBR | 5 Books, 1 Week

I love readathons with all of my heart.

Not only because they motivate me to read more (which they absolutely do), but also because I love interacting with people online while we’re all working towards the same goal.

This week I’ll be participating in Summerathon, which starts on Friday, June 21st (today! A.k.a the summer solstice!) and ends on Thursday, June 27th. Check out this video if you want some more information!

Here is my TBR for it! I’m going to try to fill all the challenges, which, if I do, will mean I’ve read five books in less than a week, which I haven’t done in at least a year.

A Rare June TBR

I’m not a huge TBR person.

It’s the mood reader in me. When I make a TBR, I’m probably less likely to read any of the books on there, you know, in the spirit of rebelling against the system.

However, this month will be an exception for two reasons:

  1. I’m doing a little readathon with Mia @ Pen and Parchment with specific prompts from Monday, June 3, to Sunday, June 9, so that will help keep me on a TBR!
  2. Since it’s Pride month, I want to work on reading some of the LGBTQ+ books on my shelf.

So without further ado, let’s get right into it! I’ll start with Mia and I’s readathon TBR.

January 2019 | Wrap-Up

Another month gone.

I’ve seen some people claim that January went on forever, but honestly? It flew by for me! I can’t believe we are entering month two of 2019!

This month did go by fast, but I still managed to read some great books, write some (hopefully) great content, and find some great posts.

THE BOOKS OF 2018

Yeah, I know, you’ve already read about 100 of these posts.

But I can’t help it! I want to scream about my favorite reads from this, or, should I say last, year. But! These aren’t just my favorite books of the year – they are all the books worth mentioning this year for… a multitude of reasons. (I did the same thing for 2017!) Confused? Once again, you shall see.

5 Books I Put Down that I’m Definitely (Hopefully) Going to Pick Up Again

How does one define DNF?

I always thought of it as a book I put down that I have no interest in picking up again. But recently, I’ve noticed people who DNF books with the full intention of picking them up at a later time.

Though that second one isn’t how I usually describe a DNFed book, that is the case with the books in this post. I know some people physically can’t stop reading a book to come back to it later, that they must finish it once it’s been opened. I, on the other hand, find it a little too easy to set something aside. So easy, in fact, that I let myself get distracted with new and shiny books even when I’m really enjoying what I’m currently reading.

The following books are ones that I’m really liking so far (and have read a hundred or more pages of) but haven’t picked up in a while because, as I said, new and shiny. Ugh, it truly is a curse. I fully intend to finish reading these books at some point! Just… not… right this second.

My 2018 Thanksgiving TBR

Hello and welcome to my tentative return and Thanksgiving TBR!

Since school has been such a whirlwind this year, I’ve sadly only been averaging 1-2 books a month (bye-bye Goodreads goal). But that’s okay! As much as I love reading, sometimes my physics homework does have to come first.

However, since I have this next week off for Thanksgiving, and some extra time for a blog post, I thought I’d share some books I plan to read this week. Whether or not I actually get to them is the fun part of this mystery.

(Click on the titles to check out their Goodreads pages!)
